We spend so much time with other people, both in person and online. We spend so much energy trying to get people to like us. We know more about others than we know about ourselves: we study them, we want to hang out with them and be like them, we want what they have and don’t want what we have. We have invested so much time in them we don’t even know who we are.
I challenge you to spend time by yourself. Get to know the real you and forget about everyone else. And getting to know yourself isn’t always pretty. You might find things that are difficult to process. You have fears, anxieties and disappointments that you have ignored for years. This is why most people don’t want to be alone and would rather distract themselves with other people’s problems.
One of the greatest investments you can make this week is to intentionally spend time alone to work on yourself. Make this a priority and other things in your life will fall into place with ease.
